laboratory luminance contrast testing

Luminous Calculator - Bowman-Sapolinski Equation

The Luminous calculator is to be used where the LRV's are know. For example two (2) paint colours from a Dulux colour fan deck. The LRV's for each colour are found in the rear of the fan deck. Please note that these LRV's are Spectural Component Inclusive, which means that the finish will effect the actual perceived contrasts.

This calculator can be used for Photometer measurements of TGSI's however if testing building elements with a photometer, the Luminance calculator below must be used to determine the luminance contrast ratio.

Click on the image to the right to use the Luminous Calculator - please note that Luminos Consulting do not accept any responsibilities for the accuracy of the results as the LRV's were not obtained by our testing procedures or the miss-use of this calculator.

The Luminance contrast ratio will be calculated automatically when the two (2) LRV's are entered into the cells. To calculate other LRV's simply just enter the values into the cells.

onsite luminance contrast testing

Luminance Calculator - Use for cd/m2 - AS1428.1 - On-site Testing

Onsite luminance contrast testing is performed using as per the equipment stated in AS1428.1 & AS1428.4.1 a single reflex lens photometer which will give a measurement in cd/m2. This calculator is ONLY suitable for Photometer values for building elements. Do NOT use this calculator for Photometer measurements of TGSI's - use the above Luminous calculator.
